What I’m reading
Posted by Andrew Butcher on July 30th, 2008Every day I read around the world. To follow the US Presidential Elections, and US perspectives on global affairs generally, I variously read the International Herald Tribune, which is the international version of the New York Times, which I also read regularly. I also read the political blogs, Mark Halperin’s The Page (Time), The Caucus (New York Times) and politico.com. I follow the think-tanks Brookings, the East-West Centre and the blog Huffington Post. Staying in North America, I get daily intelligence and security briefings about Asia as recorded in the region’s media from Canada’s Maritime Forces Pacific Headquarters and the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada . From the UK, I read both the Independent and The Guardian. To balance out this heavy reading, I enjoy a good laugh with Jeremy Clarkson, Garrison Keillor, and Dave Barry.
Closer to home, I read the New Zealand Herald, and stuff, as well as the Sydney Morning Herald, the Melbourne Age, and the blog of the think-tank the Lowy Institute for International Policy, the Interpreter.
